The story goes on

Just when you thought everything was back to normal and you could finally settle down in peace with your family, things take a complete dive down from bad to worse as you try and find a cure for your brother’s special condition. Requiems story is much more focused on the background of the disease that Hugo is born with and takes the player on a journey into the lore of the game.

The first half of the game has you go through many many sneaking sections and as much as I don’t mind sneaking missions, I found these sections dragged on for way too long and I often found myself walking in circles so I usually ended up giving up and doing a run to find the exit before dying and redoing the section the ‘correct’ way. The weapons wheel also changed in the sequel and i constantly found myself wasting resources by accidently using the last selected projectile because I forgot to change it.

One of the best things about the sequel was the side characters as I found them to be much more interesting than the ones in the first game. Character relationships with each other were more complex and put our characters in complicated situations. I definitely found the Antagonist more memorable in Requiem.

Overall I did like the game however I can’t see myself replaying it whereas I would consider replaying the first one again. To be quite honest I feel like the game would probably have had the same effect if it removed the first half of the game. Compared to the first game, Requiems first half felt underwhelming and repetitive.

I played the PS5 version of the game but it is also available on Xbox Series, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC
